Sliding Bevel From Veritas

I’m often asked for a recommendation for various layout tools and generally find siding bevels to be one of those tools you don’t really give much attention to. We use these simple tools to transfer angles to the workpiece or to check that angles correspond to the design. I tried out this new sliding bevel from Veritas and it has now become a favorite. It has a cam lever that locks the angled blade securely in place wrather than a thumbscrew or nut and bolt of some kind. The tool feels solidly made with a positive mechanism that is simple to use. Another feature I like is the laminated stock, which looks more like a dense hardwood but is actually made up of layered sheets similar to plywoood which makes it extremely stable.
