Joinery II: Woodworking Basics

Joinery II: Wall Shelf and Dovetail Box>
		</p>
		<p class=The important steps of laying out a project in preparation for accurate joinery are the skills that you will discover as you build two projects in this workshop.

Through instruction and demonstration we help you develop the skills of hand-tool joinery and fine woodworking. This course incorporates the skills learned in the Joinery I Class while you gain confidence in hand cutting dovetails, dados and mortise-and-tenon joints. You will also learn how to adjust and use a hand plane and a spokeshave. During this course you will build a dovetailed Shaker candle box and an arched wall shelf while learning how to set hinges by hand, how to create a rounded profile with a hand plane and how to cut an arch using traditional hand methods.

We designed these projects to reinforce the traditional hand skills and techniques learned in our one-day Woodworking with Hand Tools workshop. These skills are essential to any woodworker and can be used in many different applications and projects that you may wish to build at home.
